The Chicago White Sox reinstated infielder Chase Meidroth from the 10-day injured list and designated fellow infielder Jacob Amaya for assignment before Friday night\u2019s series opener against the Kansas City Royals, the club announced.<\/p>\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n Meidroth, who missed time with a minor thumb injury after being hit by a pitch, returned to the lineup for the opener at Kauffman Stadium. The versatile 25-year-old has shown the ability to play multiple infield spots and provide occasional pop in the lineup. He delivered a multi-hit performance, including a homer, in the White Sox\u2019s July meeting with the Cubs, and the club will lean on that flexibility as it fills out the roster down the stretch.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Jacob Amaya was designated for assignment. The DFA gives the White Sox seven days to release or place Amaya on waivers. If he clears waivers, Amaya could be outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte, which is the most likely scenario at this juncture. <\/p>\n The roster shuffle is the latest in a string of roster maneuvers<\/a> by Chicago as the club juggles injuries and evaluates depth during the late summer.
