America lost one of its true cultural icons when Elvis Presley died on Aug. 16, 1977<\/a>. Hailed as \u201cThe King of Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roll,\u201d Presley was born on Jan. 8, 1935<\/a>. If Presley were alive today, he would be 90 years old.<\/a><\/p>\n Each year around the anniversary of his death, fans from all over the world come to Memphis to mark Elvis Week<\/a>, a celebration of Presley\u2019s life, music and legacy. The event draws as many as 35,000 people to the Bluff City for a mix of concerts, panels, film screenings and the annual Candlelight Vigil, at Presley\u2019s historic home, Graceland<\/a>.<\/p>\n Originally interred<\/a> about four miles north of Graceland inside\u00a0the Forest Hill Cemetery Midtown mausoleum on Elvis Presley Boulevard, the bodies of Elvis and his mother, Gladys Presley, were moved to the Meditation Garden at Graceland on Oct. 2, 1977.<\/p>\n ELVIS PRESLEY IN HIS OWN WORDS: <\/strong>The King on music, movies, Memphis and more<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n As of 2025, six people, including Elvis, have been laid to rest at Graceland<\/a>. They include Elvis Presley; his parents,\u00a0Gladys and Vernon Presley<\/a>; his daughter,\u00a0Lisa Marie Presley<\/a>; Lisa Marie’s son,\u00a0Benjamin Keough<\/a>; and Elvis’ paternal grandmother, Minnie Mae Presley.<\/p>\n
