His longtime manager, Meryl Soodak, confirmed his passing to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/abc7.com\/post\/tristan-rogers-actor-played-robert-scorpio-general-hospital-dies-79-battle-lung-cancer\/17549064\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:ABC 7 Eyewitness News;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">ABC 7 Eyewitness News<\/a> on Friday, Aug. 15. Rogers had revealed in July that he\u2019d been <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/articles\/general-hospital-star-tristan-rogers-201643748.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:diagnosed with cancer;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">diagnosed with cancer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Soodak remembered him fondly, telling the outlet that his role on <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/decider.com\/show\/General-Hospital\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:General Hospital;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">General Hospital<\/a><\/em> \u201cmeant everything to him.\u201d She added, \u201cHe loved being Scorpio and he created that role from nothing. He was supposed to work a day and he ended up making it into something huge. He was just a genuinely loyal, kind human being and he loved his family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><em>General Hospital<\/em> executive producer Frank Valentini also shared a statement with <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tristan-rogers-dead-general-hospital-8600222\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:People;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">People<\/a>, saying, \u201cThe entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Tristan Rogers\u2019 passing. Tristan has captivated our fans for 45 years and Port Charles will not be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio). \u2026 Tristan was a one-of-a-kind talent and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Born in Melbourne in 1946, Rogers tried out a rock band, modeling gigs, and commercials before landing in acting. His early credits included Australian soaps like <em>Bellbird<\/em> and <em>Number 96<\/em>, as well as a few British films. He came to the U.S. in 1980, and soon after scored the role that would define his career: super-spy Robert Scorpio on <em>General Hospital<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Initially brought on for just one day, Rogers\u2019 Scorpio became central to the show\u2019s biggest storylines. They don\u2019t get colon cancer. It\u2019s not very glamorous.
