\n\tMusic fans voted in a poll published Friday (Aug. 1)\u00a0on\u00a0Billboard<\/em><\/a>, choosing the pop artist\u2019s fresh LP as their favorite new release of the past week. <\/p>\n

\n\tWishbone<\/em> worked its magic with listeners in a week that also saw new releases streaming in from Chance The Rapper, Cardi B and more. An overwhelming majority said Gray\u2019s fourth studio album was their top choice, with the set bringing in nearly 80% of the vote.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI named it\u00a0Wishbone<\/em>\u00a0because I think relationships remind me a lot of wishbones,\u201d Gray told Billboard<\/em><\/a> in a recent interview. \u201cIt\u2019s like the only wishing ritual that requires two people, but a wishbone requires two people, and they essentially make a bet against each other, and they\u2019re like, \u2018Hey, I want my wish to come true. So let\u2019s do this. You might win and get your dreams come true, but I also might win, and if I win, then you get nothing.\u201d\u2019<\/p>\n

\n\tGray added, \u201cI had so much fun. I was writing lyrics, smiling ear to ear like so happy to get things off my chest. I felt immense freedom. I was literally, I literally have never had a better time writing an album \u2014 which is hilarious because the album is truly miserable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 12-track album \u2014 which was highlighted as an editor\u2019s pick on Billboard<\/em>\u2018s Friday Music Guide<\/a> \u2014 features singles including \u201cVodka Cranberry,\u201d \u201ca song that encapsulated the entire album,\u201d says Gray, whose voice soars through a chorus of somber late-night rumination: \u201cSpeak up, I know you hate me\/ Looked at your picture and cried like a baby\/ Speak up, don\u2019t leave me waiting\/ Got way too drunk off a vodka cranberry\/ Called you up in the middle of the night\/ Wailing like an imbecile\/ If you won\u2019t end things, then I will.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAmong the new releases trailing behind Wishbone<\/em>\u00a0on this week\u2019s poll are Chance The Rapper\u2019s Star Line<\/em>, coming in with 11% of the vote, and Cardi B\u2019s \u201cImaginary Playerz,\u201d with 3% of the vote. Olivia Dean\u2019s \u201cMan I Need,\u201d Dijon\u2019s Baby<\/em>, Kaytranada\u2019s Ain\u2019t No Damn Way!<\/em> and Jordan Davis\u2019 Learn the Hard Way<\/em> follow.<\/p>\n
