Legendary horror film director, writer, composer and actor John Carpenter sat down for an exclusive interview with KTLA while headlining this year\u2019s Midsummer Scream \u2013 Halloween & Horror Convention in Long Beach. <\/p>\n

Considered one of the most influential voices in the horror genre, Carpenter first carved his name into cinema history and onto the Hollywood Walk of Fame when he directed and composed the original \u201cHalloween\u201d back in 1978. <\/p>\n

Asked how he felt being referred to as the King of Halloween all the years after the film, the 77-year-old didn\u2019t hesitate. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s nice. I\u2019ve been called worse,\u201d Carpenter told KTLA\u2019s Omar Lewis. \u201cI love it.\u201d <\/p>\n

    The creative mastermind continues to stay busy and innovate, jumping into the world of horror comics alongside his wife Sandy King, founder of Storm King Comics. <\/p>\n

    \u201cWhat I did was make it more like the movies we make,\u201d King explained, \u201cand bring in writers from novels, cinema and comics.\u201d <\/p>\n

    Appearing at this year\u2019s Midsummer Scream \u2013 Halloween & Horror Convention is not just about promoting Storm King Comics but about enjoying the event itself and speaking with the fans. <\/p>\n

    \u201cConnecting with horror fans, that\u2019s my favorite part,\u201d Carpenter said of the event. \u201cI love to see them. They\u2019re really nice people. And they love horror and they love what I\u2019ve done hopefully.\u201d <\/p>\n
