The actor Gal Gadot has said that she credits a \u201cpressure on celebrities to speak out against Israel\u201d with the failure of last year\u2019s live action remake of Snow White<\/a>.<\/p>\n Her co-star, Rachel Zegler, showed her support for Palestine while promoting the film, writing on X: \u201ci love you all so much! thank you for the love and for 120m views on our trailer in just 24 hours! what a whirlwind. i am in the thick of rehearsals for romeo + juliet so i\u2019m gonna get outta here. bye for now. and always remember, free palestine.\u201d<\/p>\n Shortly after the post, producer Marc Platt flew to New York to speak to the star. His son, Jonah, later called her actions \u201cimmature\u201d and said they were to blame for the film\u2019s poor reviews.<\/p>\n Gadot is Israeli and reportedly began to receive an increased number of death threats<\/a> in the aftermath of Zegler\u2019s post, with Disney upping her security as a result.<\/p>\n As reported by the Jerusalem Post<\/a>, Gadot said she \u201creally enjoyed filming\u201d Snow White during an appearance on Israeli TV show The A Talks, adding she had \u201ceven enjoyed working with Rachel Zegler\u201d.<\/p>\n Gadot said she had been \u201csure this movie was going to be a huge success\u201d, but \u201cthen October 7 happened\u201d and there was \u201ca lot of pressure\u201d on celebrities in Hollywood \u201cto speak out against Israel\u201d.<\/p>\n The actor went on to say she was \u201cdisappointed\u201d the film was \u201cgreatly affected\u201d by such pressure and \u201cdidn\u2019t do well\u201d at the box office as a result.<\/p>\n Marc Webb\u2019s live action remake had already been dogged by negative buzz over issues including uncertainty about their approach to the dwarves. Speaking in 2022, the actor Peter Dinklage called the film \u201cfucking backwards\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI was a little taken aback by [the fact] they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White,\u201d Dinklage told podcaster Marc Maron, \u201cbut you\u2019re still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs\u201d.<\/p>\n
