Megadeth have announced their final studio album and tour.<\/p>\n
After posting an Instagram message<\/a> teasing that \u201cthe end is near,\u201d the iconic thrash metal band\u00a0shared a video<\/a> with a \u201dbreaking news\u201d announcement for fans.<\/p>\n The band\u2019s animated skeleton mascot, Vic Rattlehead, announced, \u201cThe next Megadeth album will be the last. 40 years of metal forged in steel, ending in fire \u2026 And when the New Year rises, the global farewell tour.\u201d<\/p>\n Founding guitarist Dave Mustaine also shared a personal message to fans, noting that he wants to go out on his own terms and \u201con top.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI have traveled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans, and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them,\u201d Mustaine, 63, said, per Revolver<\/em> magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n The rock legend added that Megadeth will produce one final studio album \u2013 their 17th<\/sup>\u2014 before heading out for a lengthy global tour in 2026.<\/p>\n \u201cIf there was ever a perfect time for us to put out a new album, it’s now,\u201d he said. \u201cIf there was ever a perfect time to tour the world, it’s now. This is also a perfect time for us to tell you that it’s our last studio album. We’ve made a lot of friends over the years, and I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour.\u201d<\/p>\n In his message, Mustaine said he hoped fans would be along for Megadeth\u2019s final ride.<\/p>\n \u201cDon’t be mad, don’t be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years,\u201d he added. \u201cWe have done something together that’s truly wonderful and will probably never happen again. We started a musical style, we started a revolution, we changed the guitar world and how it’s played, and we changed the world. The bands I played in have influenced the world. I love you all for it. Thank you for everything.\u201d<\/p>\n Mustaine later posted a photo<\/a> of a huge vase of white roses, which he captioned, \u201cThank you, CTK management. Their first major label album, Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying?,<\/em> was released in 1986.
