Quentin Tarantino has revealed which of his films he thinks is his best, which is his favorite and which one he believes he was \u201cborn to make.\u201d<\/p>\n
During a two-hour appearance on the \u201cChurch of Tarantino\u201d podcast, the filmmaker discussed a wide range of topics, including why \u201cSe7en\u201d director David Fincher is directing the \u201cOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood\u201d sequel he wrote instead of him. He also explained why, of all of his films, he holds \u201cOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood,\u201d \u201cKill Bill\u201d and \u201cInglourious Basterds\u201d in particularly high esteem.<\/p>\n

Every aspect [of] it is so particularly ripped, like with tentacles and bloody tissue, from my imagination and my id and my loves and my passion and my obsession.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI think \u2018Kill Bill\u2019 is the movie I was born to make, I think \u2018Inglourious Basterds\u2019 is my masterpiece, but \u2018Once Upon a Time in Hollywood\u2019 is my favorite,\u201d Tarantino concluded.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n Over the course of his 30-year career, Tarantino has won only two Oscars, both of which were Original Screenplay awards for writing the scripts for \u201cDjango Unchained\u201d and \u201cPulp Fiction.\u201d It should, consequently, come as no surprise that Tarantino also has some very specific opinions about his screenplays, which he enthusiastically shared on \u201cThe Church of Tarantino.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI think \u2018Inglourious Basterds\u2019 is my best script, and I think \u2018Hateful Eight\u2019 and \u2018Once Upon a Time In Hollywood\u2019 are right behind,\u201d Tarantino revealed. \u201cBut there\u2019s an aspect of \u2018Hateful Eight\u2019 that I actually think is probably my best directing of my material, i.e., the material is written and it\u2019s solid. So it\u2019s not like I have to create it, like \u2018Kill Bill,\u2019 it\u2019s solid, it\u2019s right there and I actually think it\u2019s my best servicing [of] my material as a director.\u201d<\/p>\n In the same episode, the writer-director explained why he decided to let Fincher direct \u201cThe Adventures of Cliff Booth,\u201d his \u201cOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood\u201d sequel starring Brad Pitt.<\/p>\n \u201cI love this script, but I\u2019m still walking down the same ground I\u2019ve already walked,\u201d Tarantino revealed. \u201cIt just kind of unenthused me. This last movie, I\u2019ve got to not know what I\u2019m doing again.
