Joyce Manor<\/a> are back with new music. Produced by Brett Gurewitz, \u201cAll My Friends Are So Depressed<\/a>\u201d is the band\u2019s first original song since releasing 40 oz. to Fresno<\/em><\/a> in 2022. Watch the accompanying video, directed by Jaxon Whittington and frontman Barry Johnson, below.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first line I came up with for this song was \u2018Lord above in a Tecate truck\u2019 after passing a Tecate delivery truck with Jesus shit all over it on the freeway driving back to Long Beach after a show in Fresno,\u201d Johnson said in a press statement. \u201cWhile searching for a line that rhymed with \u2018Lord above in a Tecate truck\u2019 I came up with \u2018Why even exist? Who gives a fuck!?\u2019 and the concept of \u2018All My Friends Are So Depressed\u2019 was born.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cIt\u2019s kind of my take on what I imagine Lana Del Rey lyrics are like. Instead of icy, detached, cool \u201950s Americana, it\u2019s all dirty shag carpet, bong rips, Peter Frampton Comes Alive<\/em>, key lime pie, and suicidal ideations. My flow was inspired by 100 gecs, who I was listening to a concerning amount in 2023. (Much respect to Dylan and Laura; please take us on tour.) Musically, we were drawing from the Libertines, Tiger Army, X, and the Smiths\u2026 obviously.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, Joyce Manor celebrated the 10th anniversary of their seminal 2014 album, Never Hungover Again<\/em><\/a>, with a limited run of concerts<\/a>. The band is set to kick off a tour of Europe and the United Kingdom in October. Certain shows will feature a four-band bill that also includes Oso Oso<\/a>, Tiger\u2019s Jaw, and Ways Away.
