Sean Astin Reunites With ‘Lord of the Rings’ Co-Star for Magical Moment: ‘Not the Beard!’<\/a> originally appeared on Parade<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n It’s been over 20 years since Sean Astin<\/strong> made his debut as the fan-favorite character Samwise Gamgee in Peter Jackson<\/strong>‘s Lord of the Rings<\/em> film trilogy \u2014 but as a recent video proved, he’s just as close as ever with at least one of the other beloved cast members.<\/p>\n In a clip shared to TikTok this week, Astin reunited with Jonathan Rhys-Davies<\/strong> \u2014 who played the gruff but lovable dwarf Gimli \u2014 for a panel appearance at the For the Love of Fantasy convention in London. Standing behind a table, Astin, 54, tried on a helmet like the one Rhys-Davies, 81, wore in the movies before doing a pitch-perfect impression of one of his co-star’s most iconic lines, shouting: “Not the beard!”<\/p>\n Rhys-Davies burst into laughter at Astin’s impersonation \u2014 and commenters were just as amused.<\/p>\n “Such a magical moment!” one person gushed, with a second raving, “The love between these guys is lovely.”<\/p>\n “Two great men here,” declared someone else, as another fan agreed, “So badass.”<\/p>\n In an interview with Forbes<\/a><\/em> earlier this year, Astin reflected on why the Lord of the Rings<\/em> films are just as meaningful as ever today.<\/p>\n \u201cYou know, one of the coolest moments that I loved was watching when the Fellowship started arriving in Rivendell, and they were looking at the mural on the wall which depicts a history of the Ring,” he said, adding, “And you just get this feeling that it\u2019s real, that the history is history, like these things happened, and the weight of what happened carries forth into this time, and what you\u2019re doing now is going to affect what happens in the future, for good or ill.”<\/p>\n “You know, in a way, it\u2019s kind of like where we are right now, in our on planet Earth,” Astin continued. “Every decision every human being makes, when you zoom out, if lots of us are making those kinds of decisions, ultimately we\u2019re going to end up in a better place, or we\u2019re going to end up in a worse place.
