Sharon Stone<\/a> isn\u2019t too optimistic about Amazon<\/a> MGM\u2019s planned Basic Instinct<\/a> reboot, saying she doesn\u2019t \u201cknow why you’d do it\u201d.<\/p>\n The 1992 erotic thriller<\/a> starred Michael Douglas<\/a> as a detective who becomes involved with the prime suspect of his murder investigation, played by Sharon Stone. The film went on to become a box office hit, earning over $350m worldwide.<\/p>\n The original film\u2019s screenwriter, Joe Eszterhas, is reportedly writing the screenplay for a new \u201canti-woke\u201d reboot<\/a>.<\/p>\n Stone, whose performance as femme fatale Catherine Tramell<\/a> in Basic Instinct <\/a>is widely considered her breakout role, doesn\u2019t think too highly of the planned reboot.<\/p>\n \u201cIf it goes the way the one that I was in went, I would just say, I don’t know why you’d do it,\u201d Stone told Today on Monday, referring to the 2006 sequel which was received poorly both at the box office and by critics.<\/p>\n Made on a budget of $70m, Basic Instinct 2 ended up making only $38.6m worldwide.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, go ahead, but good f***ing luck,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m at that stage in my life where I already retired once,\u201d she continued. \u201cAnd I already died a couple times. I\u2019m like, \u2018What are you going to do? Kill me again? I bled into my brain for nine days, so my brain was shoved to the front of my face. It wasn\u2019t positioned in my head where it was before,\u201d she told The Hollywood Reporter.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd while that was happening, everything changed,\u201d she explained. \u201cMy sense of smell, my sight, my touch. I couldn\u2019t read for a couple of years. Things were stretched and I was seeing color patterns. A lot of people thought I was going to die.\u201d<\/p>\n Before the stroke, Stone was one of the biggest actors of the Eighties and Nineties, with leading roles in blockbusters such as Total Recall, The Quick and the Dead, and Casino.<\/p>\n<\/span><\/div>\n
