Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne, who once represented Meghan Markle during her acting career, recalled how their friendship abruptly ended when Meghan decided to leave Hollywood.<\/a><\/p>\n

Just weeks after meeting Prince Harry<\/a>, Meghan announced she was leaving acting and commercial work altogether. For Gina, the decision meant not only the loss of a client but the loss of someone she considered a friend.<\/p>\n

According to Royal insider Tom Bower\u2019s bestseller Revenge, Meghan\u2019s shift away from Hollywood<\/a> was timed with the start of her royal romance.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Meghan Markle<\/a>\u2019s life, little happened by chance. Beyond the empathetic smile was a woman who disrupted spontaneity and liked to control every aspect of her life. In late September 2016, nothing was more important than her relationship with Harry,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

“And, unsurprisingly, two weeks later Meghan emailed her agent \u2013 Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne \u2013 to announce the end of her acting and commercial career,” he says in the book. Gina told Bower, according to the book: “I realised it meant losing her as a friend as well as a client.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Once she became a working royal, Meghan reportedly struggled with the strict expectations of palace life. Author Tom Quinn wrote in Yes Ma\u2019am that \u201cBuckingham Palace became really worried when they became aware that Meghan had plans for her life as a working royal that were not going to be part of a general strategy agreed with the staff \u2013 she just wanted to do her own thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

A courtier told Quinn: \u201cShe didn\u2019t understand that when you join the Royal Family, you don\u2019t do as you please, you do as you\u2019re told. In a sense, you become a servant of the family.\u201d<\/p>\n

By early 2020, Harry and Meghan formally stepped down as working royals<\/a>. Valentine Low later wrote in Courtiers that Meghan\u2019s desire to \u201cearn money for herself\u201d played a role in the couple\u2019s decision to leave royal life entirely.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
