It\u2019s been nearly seven months since Aubrey Plaza lost her husband Jeff Baena to suicide, and, unfortunately, getting by is still a daily struggle for the \u201cParks and Recreation\u201d star.<\/p>\n
The actress stopped by Amy Poehler\u2019s \u201cGood Hang\u201d podcast on Tuesday, where she opened up about her grief, aptly comparing it to this year\u2019s \u201cThe Gorge.\u201d<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve been dealing with that and you\u2019ve been looking for all different ways to feel and find support,\u201d Poehler kindly broached the topic. \u201cOn behalf of all the people who feel they know you and the people who do know you, how are you feeling today?\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cRight in this very, very present moment I feel happy to be with you,\u201d Plaza responded. \u201cI feel, overall, I\u2019m here and I\u2019m functioning and I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I\u2019m OK. But, it\u2019s a daily struggle, obviously.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is like a really dumb analogy, and it was kind of a joke at a certain point, but I actually mean it \u2014 did you see that movie, \u2018The Gorge?’\u201d she asked. \u201cIt\u2019s like an alien movie with Miles Teller, but in the movie, there\u2019s a cliff on one side and then there\u2019s a cliff on the other side and then there\u2019s a gorge in between and it\u2019s filled with all these monster people that are trying to get them.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI swear, when I watched it, I was like, that feels like what my grief is like \u2014 or what grief could be like \u2014 at all times there\u2019s a giant ocean of awfulness that\u2019s right there and I can see it,\u201d Plaza concluded. \u201cSometimes I just want to dive into it and be in it and sometimes I just look at it and sometimes I try to get away from it, but it\u2019s always there. It\u2019s just always there and the monster people are trying to get me, like Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy.\u201d<\/p>\n Indie filmmaker Baena was found dead in his Los Angeles home in January at age 47. His death was ruled a suicide.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support,\u201d Plaza and their families shared in an initial statement. \u201cPlease respect our privacy during this time.\u201d<\/p>\n The couple had been together since 2011, but kept their marriage private until 2021.
