Aubrey Plaza<\/strong> is speaking candidly about navigating life following the loss of husband Jeff Baena<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Plaza, 41, appeared on the Tuesday, August 19, episode of Amy Poehler<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cGood Hang with Amy Poehler\u201d podcast<\/a>, where the host kicked off their conversation by making it clear fans were interested in knowing how the Honey Don\u2019t!<\/em> actress was doing following the director\u2019s death by suicide in January.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo get it out of the way, people want to see you and see how you are,\u201d Poehler, 53, began, as she reached for her former Parks and Recreation<\/em> co-star\u2019s hand. \u201cThey love you, and they want to see you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve had this terrible, terrible, tragic year. You\u2019ve lost your husband. You\u2019ve been dealing with that, and you\u2019ve been looking for all different ways in which to feel and find support, and I think, on behalf of all the people who feel like they know you, and the people who do know you, how are you feeling today?\u201d Poehler asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you,\u201d Plaza explained. \u201cOverall, I\u2019m here and I\u2019m functioning. I feel, you know, I feel really grateful to be moving through the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m OK,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt\u2019s a daily struggle, obviously.\u201d<\/p>\n

Plaza used The Gorge<\/em>, a 2025 science fiction film starring Miles Teller<\/strong> and Anya-Taylor Joy<\/strong>, as an example to describe her emotions.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the movie, there\u2019s a cliff on one side and a cliff on the other side, and there\u2019s a gorge in between, and it\u2019s filled with all these monster people that are trying to get them,\u201d she shared. \u201cAnd like, I swear, when I watched it, I was like, that feels like what my grief is like, or what grief could be like.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAt all times, there\u2019s like a giant ocean of just, awfulness that\u2019s, like, right there, and I can see it, and sometimes I just want to dive into it and be in it,\u201d she admitted. \u201cAnd then, sometimes, I just look at it, and sometimes I just try to get away from it. But it\u2019s always there. It\u2019s always there.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2021, Plaza announced that she and Baena had married after a decade together by sharing a photo of the pair on Instagram, and referring to the screenwriter as her husband.<\/p>\n

As Star<\/em> previously reported<\/a>, the couple had been separated for four months when Baena died at the age of 47. At the time, Plaza was living in New York City while he was residing at their home in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
