The Who Finally Performed This 1971 Classic Live for the First Time<\/a> originally appeared on Parade<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n On Saturday, August 16, the Who<\/a> surprised fans by playing their 1971 hit \u201cGoing Mobile\u201d live for the first time.<\/p>\n Taking the stage at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, the beloved band rocked out to the Who\u2019s Next<\/em> track, nine songs into their set. Pete Townshend<\/strong>‘s brother, Simon Townshend<\/strong>, handled vocals while Roger Daltrey<\/strong> did his thing on the harmonica.<\/p>\n The Who is currently playing their North American Farewell tour, \u201cThe Song is Over.\u201d<\/p>\n Speaking with NME <\/a>in May, Daltrey, 81, revealed why American fans are an integral part of the band\u2019s history.<\/p>\n \u201cThe warmth of the American audiences over the years have been inspirational to me, and reflect the feeling I remember getting after hearing the first rock records coming across the radio. Musical freedom! Rock gave us a feeling of generational rebellion. To me, America has always been great,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe cultural differences had a huge impact on me; this was the land of the possible. However, the powerful vocalist is aware of his limitations after battling meningitis earlier in his career.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s done a lot of damage.
