Country Music Star Garth Brooks Celebrates Life-Changing Milestone<\/a> originally appeared on Parade<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n Country music changed forever in August 1988, and superstar musician Garth Brooks<\/a><\/strong> has never forgotten it.<\/p>\n This week, Brooks is celebrating a life-changing milestone<\/a>: the anniversary of the first time he stepped into the studio with producer Allen Reynolds<\/strong>, engineer Mark Miller<\/strong>, and the musicians who would soon become known as the G-Men \u2014 Bruce Bouton<\/strong> (steel guitar), Mark Casstevens<\/strong> on acoustic guitar, Mike Chapman<\/strong> on bass guitar, Rob Hajacos<\/strong> on fiddle, Chris Leuzinger<\/strong> on electric guitar, Milton Sledge<\/strong> on drums, and Bobby Wood<\/strong> on keyboards.<\/p>\n Together, they founded a group that reshaped country music and launched Brooks from “Oklahoma rookie” to global superstar. I love that.\u201d<\/p>\n That first studio session lit the fuse for more than a decade of hits, nearly all recorded at Reynolds\u2019 Jack\u2019s Tracks Studio in Nashville. With Reynolds and the G-Men working alongside him, Brooks delivered classics like “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” “The Dance,” “Friends in Low Places,” “Callin\u2019 Baton Rouge” and dozens more.<\/p>\n By the early 1990s, Brooks wasn\u2019t just dominating the charts \u2014 he was filling stadiums, breaking records, and taking country music global in a groundbreaking way.<\/p>\n RELATED: Iconic Country Venue Where Garth Brooks Proposed to Trisha Yearwood Closing Its Doors<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n When Reynolds eventually retired, Brooks honored him by buying Jack\u2019s Tracks and renaming it Allentown Studios. In 2016, Brooks, Reynolds, Miller, and the G-Men were inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame together. And today, they still collaborate.<\/p>\n This week also happens to mark birthdays for several key players in Brooks\u2019 world: fiddle player Jimmy Mattingly<\/strong>, Sevens Radio\u2019s Maurice Miner<\/strong>, and Allentown Studios Manager Charles Green<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cHappy birthday to my friends and partners in crime for the last three decades!\u201d Brooks joked. \u201cIt\u2019s birthday week!!!\u201d<\/p>\n On his Instagram account<\/a>, Brooks added, “Happy birthday to my true Friends in Low Places \ud83d\ude02 Allen Reynolds, Maurice Miner, Charles Green, and Jimmy Mattingly!
