No, Calvin Harris<\/a> isn\u2019t going to release his previously teased collaboration with Miley Cyrus<\/a> \u2014 but that doesn\u2019t mean he\u2019s on the outs with the pop star, despite a few comments he made that some fans interpreted as shade against her.<\/p>\n More than a year after he first shared a snippet of an ocean-themed EDM song featuring Cyrus\u2019 vocals, the DJ has caused a stir online by sharing a new teaser for the same project in a recent TikTok<\/a>, this time with Jessie Reyez singing on the track. At first not addressing the three-time Grammy winner\u2019s absence, Harris simply captioned the post, \u201cYes I love it #newmusic #ocean.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n Fans, however, were immediately confused. It wasn\u2019t long before his comment section filled up with questions about where the version with the \u201cFlowers\u201d singer had gone \u2014 and some of his replies to those queries quickly led some viewers to believe that there must be bad blood between the two artists that had caused the song\u2019s release to be blocked.<\/p>\n \u201cAwwwwww where\u2019s Miley!!!!!\u201d one person wrote, to which Harris replied, \u201cI do not know.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI like this better than the Miley version,\u201d another fan commented, with the electronic hitmaker agreeing, \u201cAnd it is !!!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe only want Miley,\u201d a third person wrote, to which Harris responded, \u201cOff you pop then.\u201d<\/p>\n But, fear not. As followers clamored for answers, Harris eventually clarified that he doesn\u2019t have anything against Cyrus. When someone questioned why he was directing \u201chate\u201d at the Hannah Montana <\/em>alum, he corrected, \u201cI love Miley,\u201d later writing that the vocalist has \u201can amazing voice.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt was my bad \u2026 crossed wires,\u201d he also responded to someone asking whether it had been Cyrus\u2019 \u201cfault\u201d that the collab had been shelved.<\/p>\n To another fan who asked if there was \u201cany issue between\u201d Harris and Cyrus, he answered, \u201cAbsolutely not!!\u201d<\/p>\n The debacle comes just a few months after Harris dropped new single \u201cBlessings\u201d with Clementine Douglas, which followed March\u2019s solo release \u201cSmoke the Pain Away.\u201d Though he hasn\u2019t yet shared when the Reyez-assisted ocean song will drop, Harris appears to finally be gearing up to release it after first sharing a portion<\/a> of Cyrus\u2019 abandoned version in May 2024.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were dancing, we were wild in the ocean,\u201d Cyrus sang at the time over the uptempo club-ready beat. \u201cWhen the crowd is all around me, you\u2019re still all I see.\u201d<\/p>\n In the comments of his new TikTok teasing the piece, Harris also explained that Reyez \u2014 despite Cyrus\u2019 previous involvement \u2014 has always been a part of the upcoming song. Noting that the Canadian singer-songwriter had penned its lyrics, the DJ responded to one fan who\u2019d asked, \u201cWasn\u2019t this one the one with Miley Cyrus?\u201d by writing, \u201cKind of but it was with Jessie first.\u201d<\/p>\n He also emphasized that Cyrus\u2019 version will likely never see the light of day.
