Alan Cumming<\/strong> is savoring his return to Emmy glory. Peacock\u2019s The Traitors<\/em> is nominated for five awards this year, including Best Reality Competition Program and Best Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program \u2014 both categories it won last year.<\/p>\n \u201cLife is sweet. What can I say?\u201d Cumming says when asked about the recognition. \u201cI feel like whatever happens, I\u2019ve still won Emmys. But if we win, of course it\u2019s like, how lovely, we\u2019ve won again. And also, I feel like we\u2019re in a great stride with the show and we feel really good about it. So it\u2019s a really great time actually.\u201d<\/p>\n One of his competitors for Best Host this year is Top Chef<\/em>\u2019s Kristen Kish<\/strong>, who also appears in the upcoming fourth season of The Traitors<\/em>. \u201cShe is indeed [on the show],\u201d Cumming confirms. \u201cIt\u2019s sort of funny. They invited me to go on Top Chef<\/em> as a sort of promotion thing. I couldn\u2019t, the dates didn\u2019t work out. But yeah, I really, really like her. She\u2019s great. And they called her \u2018Chef\u2019 on our show. Everybody called her \u2018Chef.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Asked if he\u2019d ever compete on another reality show himself, Cumming laughs. \u201cI think it\u2019d be one of those ones where you make cakes or crafting or something. Is there a crafting one? They have The Great British Bake Off<\/em>. A few of my friends have done that and said it\u2019s hilarious. I\u2019d quite like to do a cooking one,\u201d he muses. \u201cI once got asked to host The World\u2019s Most Dangerous Roads<\/em>. It was, \u2018Alan will drive down this road in India where 30 people died last week.\u2019 That\u2019s when I thought maybe not.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Gold Derby<\/strong><\/p>\n Now in Emmy contention for Season 3, Cumming says each cast reshapes the show\u2019s dynamic. \u201cThe show itself is so much about chance and about the personalities involved. And this one, they were pretty intense. Everyone comes in thinking they\u2019ve got it, and then \u2014 poof! \u2014 they\u2019re dead,\u201d he laughs.<\/p>\n \u201cBut there was a lot of chaos in this season. A lot of crazy. People turning on each other. It felt to me like a really good representation of America right now, because it was chaos, these big, very toxic male figures, and then. \u2026 it ended very calm and everybody came together. And the Four Faithful \u2014 Dolores Catania<\/strong>, Dylan Efron<\/strong>, Ivar Mountbatten<\/strong>, and Gabby Windey<\/strong> \u2014 were victorious.\u201d<\/p>\n The kumbaya finish was unusual. \u201cIn a show that\u2019s all about treachery and murder, it\u2019s quite nice to have kumbaya sometimes,\u201d Cumming says. \u201cThere\u2019s not much kumbaya in this new season, let me tell you.
