Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> recently opened up about an \u201cuntold story\u201d explaining how he saved Matt Damon<\/a>\u2019s life.<\/p>\n During an interview with Variety<\/a> that was published on Monday, Kimmel said Damon, 54, and his brother, Kyle, came over to the late-night host\u2019s home to eat pork ribs he made for dinner one night. <\/p>\n \u201cHe came late, was very hungry, and started eating fast,\u201d Kimmel recalled. \u201cHe started choking on a pork rib. It was stuck in his throat for about an hour and a half.\u201d<\/p>\n He then joked a little about how the situation might appear given a prolonged (but fake) beef between the two stars. <\/p>\n \u201cI said, \u2018We have got to get him to the hospital\u2019 because if he dies in my house, I\u2019m going to prison for the rest of my life,\u201d he joked. \u201cI will never be able to explain this as anything other than a murder.\u201d<\/p>\n Instead of getting Damon to the hospital, Kimmel skimmed through YouTube and ultimately discovered that \u201ceating little bits of bread was the way to get that rib to work its way down into his stomach.\u201d <\/p>\n Kimmel said he tried the technique, which ultimately did the trick, noting, \u201cBread saved him. We tried the Heimlich many times. It was too far down.\u201d <\/p>\n The \u201cbeef\u201d between Kimmel and Damon is, of course, a longstanding joke. The fake feud began back in 2005 when Kimmel signed off from \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d with the line, \u201cApologies to Matt Damon, but we ran out of time,\u201d despite Damon not being a scheduled guest on the late night show at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cPeople started to call me and ask like, \u2018Hey, what\u2019s your connection to this guy?\u2019 And I\u2019d never met Jimmy,\u201d Damon recounted on SiriusXM\u2019s \u201cThe Jess Cagle Show\u201d<\/i> in 2021. \u201cHe literally pulled my name out of thin air one night.\u201d<\/p>\n If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
