Iconic ‘James Bond’ Actor Open to Franchise Return at 72-Years-Old: ‘It\u2019s Great Entertainment\u2019<\/a> originally appeared on Parade<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n It says a lot that Pierce Brosnan continues to be mentioned in the same favorable breath as Sean Connery and Daniel Craig as one of the best James Bond actors the franchise has ever seen.<\/p>\n Taking over the iconic British super spy with 1995’s GoldenEye<\/em>, Brosnan continued to portray the gentleman agent until 2002.<\/p>\n Though his tenure as the actor ultimately ended with 2002’s disastrous Die Another Day<\/em>, the now 72-year-old actor has expressed enthusiasm at the prospect of a return to the 007<\/em> series as an older, “craggy” version of James Bond, especially if it means a chance to work with critically acclaimed director, Denis Villeneuve.<\/p>\n In a recent interview with Radio Times<\/a><\/em>, the MobLand<\/em> actor opened up about the possibility of his return to the James Bond<\/em> series, marking his first major appearance in the franchise in over 23 years.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think anyone wants to see a craggy, 72-year-old Bond, but if Villeneuve had something up his sleeve I would look at it in a heartbeat,\u201d Brosnan said. \u201cWhy not? It\u2019s great entertainment. It could be lots of laughs. Bald caps, prosthetics\u2026 who knows?\u201d<\/p>\n True to Brosnan’s words, the oldest actor to ever portray James Bond was Roger Moore, who was 57-years-old in his final 007 outing, 1985’s A View to a Kill.<\/em><\/p>\n No matter what, Brosnan has said that he remains personally excited to see which young actor might step into the signature tuxedo of the secret agent, inheriting a role previously portrayed by Brosnan, Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig.<\/p>\n \u201cI have been listening to the drumbeat of expectation of who\u2019s going to be the next James Bond,\u201d Brosnan said. \u201cThere are many great candidates out there, and I\u2019m sure they\u2019re going to make it a spectacle of delight.\u201d<\/p>\n
