The \u201cStar Wars\u201d icon and staunch Trump critic opened up about his plan in an interview with The Times of London<\/a> published on Saturday, revealing how he considered the expat life before his wife, Marilou York, shrewdly convinced him against it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After Hamill proposed relocating from Southern California to London or Ireland, his partner of five decades let him sit on the decision before weighing in herself.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s very clever,\u201d Hamill recalled. \u201cShe didn\u2019t respond right away, but a week later, she said, \u2018I\u2019m surprised you would allow him to force you out of your own country.\u2019 That son of a bitch, I thought. I\u2019m not leaving.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While he decided to stay put, the man behind Luke Skywalker was still unsparing in his criticism for the president.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe bullying, the incompetence, the people in place \u2026 The only way I can deal with it without going crazy and wanting to open my veins in a warm tub is to look at it like a thick, sprawling political novel,\u201d he vented to The Times.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Seeing some dark humor in the situation, however, Hamill added, \u201cIt\u2019s entertaining in a way because this could actually be the end. Our status in the world has been crippled and that will reverberate for decades.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cMaking Canada a 51st state? Do you know how offensive that is?\u201d he asked. \u201cAnd then taking over Greenland and renaming the Gulf of Mexico. The distractions are hilarious.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But Hamill saw a glimmer of hope, also telling The Times, \u201cI still believe there are more honest, decent people than there are the MAGA crowd. If I didn\u2019t, I\u2019d move back to England.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The day after the election was decided, the sci-fi star turned to the internet with a sobering message about his home country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
