Virgin River<\/em><\/a> actor Callum Kerr<\/strong> is speaking out about the funeral of his stepfather, Andrew Searle<\/strong>, who is suspected of killing Kerr\u2019s mom, Dawn<\/strong>, in a murder-suicide in February.<\/p>\n

Kerr, 31, posted a joint Instagram<\/a> statement with his sister Amanda<\/strong> on Tuesday, August 19, urging loved ones not to attend Searle\u2019s funeral, nor for the service to include mention of his late mother.<\/p>\n

The bodies of British couple Andrew and Dawn Searle were found dead<\/a> at their home in Les Pesqui\u00e9s in the Aveyron region of France on February 6. In April, French officials deemed the deaths murder followed by suicide, per BBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the absence of any evidence suggesting third-party involvement in the tragic death of our mother, Dawn Kerr, the prevailing hypothesis remains that of a murder-suicide,\u201d Kerr said in the joint statement with his sister. \u201cOur mother was killed by multiple blows to the head \u2026 There is also no evidence whatsoever of any third party\u2019s involvement at this stage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom filmmakers to artists, Hollywood lost many stars in 2025. News broke on January 4 that Aubrey Plaza\u2019s estranged husband, Jeff Baena, died one day earlier at the age of 47. Per medical examiner records viewed by Us Weekly, Baena died by suicide. \u201cThis is an unimaginable tragedy,\u201d Plaza\u2019s rep said in a statement to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kerr and his sibling continued, \u201cWhile the official investigation is still ongoing, we cannot ignore the circumstances as they stand. For this reason, we must respectfully but firmly request that our mother not be included in any way in the funeral arrangements being made for Andrew.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease do not share photographs of them together. Please do not attend Andrew\u2019s service if you were a friend of our mother,\u201d the brother and sister said. \u201cIt would be inappropriate for her memory to be associated with a service honoring the man who, based on all available evidence, may have been responsible for her death. We ask for understanding, privacy and respect as we continue to grieve and seek justice for our mum.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scotland-born Kerr is best known for playing PC George Kiss on British soap opera Hollyoaks<\/em>. He recently appeared in flashbacks in Virgin River<\/em> season 6<\/a> as a younger version of Everett Reid, main character Mel\u2019s (Alexandra Breckenridge<\/strong>) biological father. He will next be seen as Smoker in the second season of Netflix\u2019s live-action adaptation of One Piece<\/em>.<\/p>\n

As well as acting, Kerr, who resides in Nashville, is also a country singer and recently released his debut EP, Roots Under Me<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Andrew and Dawn Searle\u2019s bodies were discovered in February when a neighbor checked in on them after they failed to appear for a planned dog walk, the BBC reported at the time.<\/p>\n
