Kaylee Goncalves<\/strong>\u2019 brother, Steven Goncalves<\/strong>, has found love in an unexpected way.<\/p>\n

One month after Bryan Kohberger<\/strong> was sentenced to life in prison<\/span><\/a> for the 2022 murder of Kaylee and her three friends<\/span><\/a>, Steven confirmed that he is engaged to journalist Olivia Vitale<\/strong> \u2014 a reporter he met during the investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a bright spot,\u201d Steven shared on the Monday, August 18, episode of Newsnation\u2019s Banfield<\/i><\/span><\/a>. \u201cI did meet Olivia. I do have my partner for the rest of my life and I\u2019ll hold on to that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair initially met when Vitale was covering the death of Kaylee and her three friends. Things didn\u2019t turn romantic, however, until a year later when the independent journalist was filming a documentary.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSeveral stars are taking the next step in their relationship in 2025 by making things official with their significant other. Days after the New Year, Zendaya sparked engagement speculation when she was spotted on the 2025 Golden Globes red carpet with a ring on her left hand. \u201cWe were friends first, and then I invited him to \u2014 I was filming a documentary with NBC \u2014 and I wanted Steven to be a part of it, and it was on set where we bonded,\u201d Vitale told host Brian Entin<\/strong>. \u201cWe were skipping rocks \u2014 you can see in the documentary<\/span><\/a> \u2014 and that was really when we first really met, and we just became best friends after that.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the couple, Steven\u2019s late sister was a follower of Vitale\u2019s work and a fan of true crime before she was murdered by Kohberger.<\/p>\n

As a result, Vitale said she can\u2019t help but have an attachment to a case that captivated the nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe shared it with her family a few days before her passing. That really hit me hard and so from the beginning, this case has been a bit different than the others because of the personal connection with the victim,\u201d Vitale explained. \u201cThe world works in weird ways. I never saw this coming. I never thought that I would fall in love with her brother. But life is weird.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the early hours of November 13, 2022, police say Kohberger entered Kaylee\u2019s home wearing a black mask before stabbing the student and her friends Madison Mogen<\/strong>, Ethan Chapin<\/strong> and Xana Kernodle<\/strong> to death.<\/p>\n
