Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong> <\/a>may have a longstanding satirical feud with Matt Damon<\/strong><\/a>, but the late night host quickly sprang into action to save the actor\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

\u201cMatt Damon was over at my house one night for dinner. I made pork ribs,\u201d Kimmel told Variety<\/em><\/a> on Monday, August 18. \u201cHe came late, was very hungry and started eating fast. He started choking on a pork rib. It was stuck in his throat for about an hour and a half. His brother was there.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cI said, \u2018We have got to get him to the hospital,\u2019 because if he dies in my house, I\u2019m going to prison for the rest of my life. I will never be able to explain this as anything other than a murder.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel said that he started frantically searching for methods to help Damon remove the piece of food from his throat.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJimmy Kimmel\u2019s late night show staff nearly got a surprise gift from Matt Damon and Ben Affleck amid the ongoing Hollywood strikes. \u201cBen Affleck and the despicable Matt Damon contacted me and offered to pay our staff for two weeks a week each,\u201d Kimmel, 55, revealed on the Wednesday, August 30, debut episode of the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe did a lot of YouTube-ing and finally concluded that eating little bits of bread was the way to get that rib to work its way down into his stomach \u2014 and bread saved him,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cWe tried the Heimlich many times. It was too far down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Damon and Kimmel\u2019s fake feud has been a bit on Kimmel\u2019s show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em>, since 2005. The fake drama<\/a> started when the host hilariously said, \u201cApologies to Matt Damon, but we ran out of time,\u201d during a season 3 episode of the show. Damon was not scheduled to be on the show that day, nor did he have anything to do with the segments that were featured. As the seasons went on, Kimmel made it his catchphrase.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople started to call me and ask like, \u2018Hey, what\u2019s your connection to this guy?\u2019 And I\u2019d never met Jimmy,\u201d Damon said during a 2021 appearance on SiriusXM\u2019s The Jess Cagle Show<\/em>. \u201cHe literally pulled my name out of thin air one night.\u201d<\/p>\n
