\u201cHi, it\u2019s Maria,\u201d begins\u00a0Mar\u00eda Zardoya in a voice message, her voice low against a slow instrumental. \u201cWelcome to Not for Radio<\/em>, my alternate reality.\u201d<\/p>\n Zardoya, the lead singer of the Mar\u00edas, announced her debut solo project in a series of posts across social media Wednesday, while sharing her inquisitive voice note on Spotify with the title \u201cMessage 1\u201d alongside the album title. \u201cI wanted to explore on my own what it meant to love and to lose. And I keep asking myself the question: Is love worth the pain?\u201d she continues to detail. \u201cIf there\u2019s a pain that only love can cause \u2014 the ache of someone\u2019s absence, of knowing that they once lived there inside your home, tangible and tender \u2014 but now reside only inside your memory. I\u2019m ready to find out.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n Elsewhere, Zardoya shared a photo of herself in a white T-shirt with text declaring, \u201cI made a solo project,\u201d and another image of her in a black shirt that read \u201cNot for Radio.\u201d In the caption, she assured fans that \u201cthe band will be here forever,\u201d adding, \u201ci love making music as the mar\u00edas, and nothing will ever change that.\u201d<\/p>\n Her desire to \u201cchallenge\u201d herself, however, led her \u201cto make a project that resonated with me in a different way.\u201d Offering insight into the new venture, she wrote, \u201cthere are layers to who we all are as individuals, and this is another layer of me, another flower in the garden.\u201d<\/p>\n The theme of growth was further explored in a separate video shared to Instagram under an account featuring her new endeavor\u2019s name. The clip shows a sprouting seed before cutting to Maria basked in red light as she reaches upward while a snippet from her voice message plays, with the addition of her declaring, \u201cA seed has been planted.\u201d<\/p>\n The Mar\u00edas\u00a0released their second studio album, Submarine<\/em>, last year, which sent them on an extended tour <\/a>around North America.
