The cast of Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em> will reunite for a live reading of the hit teen drama\u2019s 1998 pilot episode next month to help raise money for F Cancer and James Van Der Beek<\/a>, who\u2019s currently battling cancer<\/a>.<\/p>\n As Variety<\/a> <\/em>reports, Van Der Beek \u2014 who starred as the titular Dawson Leery \u2014 will take part in the live reading, as will his big name co-stars Katie Holmes (who played Dawson\u2019s best friend, Joey), Michelle Williams (Dawson\u2019s neighbor, Jen), and Joshua Jackson (Dawson\u2019s other best friend, Pacey).<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe grew up in Capeside, and that\u2019s a bond that will last a lifetime,\u201d Williams said in a statement. \u201cWe wanted to gather around our dear friend James and remind him that we are all here. We always have been, and we always will be. And I know the fans of Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em> feel the same way.\u201d<\/p>\n Additional cast members set to participate include Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe, and Busy Philipps. While Philipps, Smith, and Monroe all joined Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em> later in the show\u2019s run, they\u2019ll be on hand to fill in for other roles in the pilot episode.<\/p>\n The benefit will take place Sept. 22 at the Richard Rodgers Theater in New York City. Jason Moore, who directed several episodes of Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em> during its original run, will direct the live reading. Series creator Kevin Williamson will serve as one of the show\u2019s producers. Tickets will be available via BroadwayDirect<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI am so excited to reunite with James, Michelle, Katie, Joshua, and our Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em> family for such a special night,\u201d Williamson said. \u201cDawson\u2019s Creek<\/em> changed my life. What began as a personal story about a young man and his friends navigating their way through the challenges of life became so much more than I ever dreamed. It created an enduring fandom and legacy all over the world. I am so honored to be a part of it and to support our beautiful friend, James, as we continue to navigate our way through life and its many challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n Van Der Beek revealed that he\u2019d been diagnosed<\/a> with stage 3 colorectal cancer last November, saying of his prognosis at the time, \u201cThere\u2019s reason for optimism, and I\u2019m feeling good.\u201d Since then, he\u2019s spoken about undergoing treatment and changing his lifestyle, telling Today<\/a> <\/em>at the end of July, \u201cI\u2019m just on the journey\u2026 It\u2019s a process. It\u2019ll probably be a process for the rest of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n Even with the diagnosis, Van Der Beek has continued to work.
