{"id":1971669,"date":"2025-08-21T03:50:59","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T03:50:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=1971669"},"modified":"2025-08-21T03:50:59","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T03:50:59","slug":"kyle-chrisley-suing-tennessee-county-and-police-for-1-7m-over-false-arrest-and-excessive-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/kyle-chrisley-suing-tennessee-county-and-police-for-1-7m-over-false-arrest-and-excessive-force\/","title":{"rendered":"Kyle Chrisley suing Tennessee county and police for $1.7M over false arrest and excessive force"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2025%2F08%2Fnewspress-collage-s8r0g5u08-1755744460689.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall%261755730076\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft wp-block-nypost-editor-partner-article-links\">\n<\/aside>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/05\/28\/celebrity-news\/ecstatic-kyle-and-chase-chrisley-react-to-todd-and-julies-trump-pardon\/\">Kyle Chrisley and<\/a> his wife, Ashleigh, are suing Rutherford County and two sheriff deputies for $1.7 million over his aggravated assault arrest in September 2024.<\/p>\n<p>In court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, attorneys for the Chrisleys claim the couple were \u201cterrorized in their own home\u201d the afternoon of Sept. 9, 2024, and then \u201cpunished for calling for help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the lawsuit, a \u201cdisgruntled mechanic, angry over a payment dispute, showed up uninvited, kicked at their doors, threatened violence, and used his car as a weapon by ramming their SUV and nearly running Kyle over in front of multiple neighbors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kyle and the mechanic \u2013 who had done work on the Chrisleys\u2019 car and was allegedly paid in full \u2013 got into a physical altercation outside their home in Tennessee over a monetary dispute.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cChrisley Knows Best\u201d star allegedly \u201cshoved back in self-defense and the two men pushed each other out of the garage and down the driveway,\u201d the lawsuit states.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Kyle Chrisley pictured in a mug shot during an arrest on March 2023 in Smyrna, Tennessee.  <span class=\"credit\">Rutherford County Sheriff&#8217;s Office<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ashleigh, who was \u201cfearing for her family\u2019s safety,\u201d called the police after the mechanic allegedly \u201cintentionally reversed into [her] parked SUV, smashing and damaging her vehicle\u201d and \u201cperformed two 360-degree spins while flinging topsoil into the air, and sped away toward the neighborhood exit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The mechanic allegedly returned to the neighborhood shortly thereafter and continued to terrorize the Chrisleys, with neighbors looking on.<\/p>\n<p>According to a neighbor\u2019s security camera footage, the mechanic yelled, \u201cKyle, come get in front of my car so I can run your b\u2014- a\u2013 over.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Pictured: (l-r) Grayson Chrisley, Chase Chrisley, Kyle Chrisley ahead of Season 1 of \u201cChrisley Knows Best.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Tommy Garcia\/USA Network<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Once police arrived, the disgruntled mechanic allegedly <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2023\/03\/14\/kyle-chrisley-arrested-for-aggravated-assault-in-tennessee\/\">claimed that Kyle<\/a> \u201cstabbed him with a knife.\u201d A neighbor claimed they did not see a weapon of any sort.<\/p>\n<p>Kyle \u201cdenied the allegation, explaining [the mechanic] was the aggressor, had trespassed, frightened his family, threatened to kill him, initiated physical contact, rammed the SUV, and returned attempting to run him over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen deputies from the Rutherford County Sheriff\u2019s Office arrived, they didn\u2019t arrest the man who caused the chaos,\u201d the lawsuit states. \u201cInstead, they arrested Kyle Chrisley, and ignored clear evidence that he was the victim, not the aggressor. Deputies disregarded eyewitnesses, overlooked available video footage, and ignored Tennessee\u2019s self-defense law.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Kyle Chrisley and Todd together in a social media post from September 2019.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>When Kyle\u2019s wife pulled out her phone to begin recording the authorities\u2019 behavior, she was allegedly \u201cthreatened with arrest and ordered to stop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Authorities allegedly \u201cthrew Chrisley to the ground, placed knees on his back, and handcuffed him despite the fact that Chrisley used no force against the officers and did not otherwise resist,\u201d the lawsuit states.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Chrisleys\u2019 filing, they decided to \u201cbring this lawsuit because no family should face criminal charges or threats of arrest for defending themselves at home or for exercising their constitutional rights.
