Earlier this year, Lil Nas X<\/a> dropped his Days Before Dreamboy<\/em> EP, a surprise eight-track release with singles, including his 2024 release \u201cLight Again\u201d and his 2025 release \u201cDreamboy\u201d. This EP was a prequel to his upcoming Dreamboy<\/em> LP release to follow his first debut album, Montero<\/em>. But the \u201cOld Town Road\u201d singer went quiet.<\/p>\n

The rapper shocked fans in April when he revealed a hospitalization due to facial paralysis<\/a>, leading him to drop out of the Outloud Music Festival<\/a> for Pride month<\/a>. \u201cOver the past few days, we\u2019ve been in close contact with Lil Nas X and his team regarding an ongoing medical issue,\u201d the festival shared. \u201cDue to this we are sad to announce that Lil Nas X will no longer be able to perform.\u201d<\/p>\n

In May, he appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show<\/em> teasing new music again. And just when it seemed things were quiet again<\/strong>, Nas did what Nas does best: he blew up Instagram<\/a> with a cryptic, campy rebrand.<\/p>\n

The Return of Dreamboy<\/h2>\n

On Aug. 19, he wiped his IG and started posting images that looked straight out of a fever dream: Nas in a golden dress holding lanterns, surrounded by piles of fabric, regal self-portraits, and even a dramatic white fur chair.<\/p>\n

In a selfie shared to the gram, the rapper wrote, \u201cOH NO sHES GONE MAD! CRAZY I TELL U!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

But this isn\u2019t just a rebrand \u2014 it\u2019s the rollout for what looks like his next full project. Nas began sharing snippets of brand-new tracks, including:<\/p>\n

  • \u201cBlack Horse\u201d<\/strong> (produced by Young Kio)<\/li>\n
  • \u201cKimbo\u201d<\/strong> with Lil Jon<\/li>\n
  • A now-deleted snippet of the long-awaited \u201cDown Souf Hoes\u201d<\/strong> featuring Sexyy Red and Saucy Santana.<\/li>\n
  • Plus a tambourine-shaking, robe-wearing Nas crooning a cappella lines about wanting to live a \u201cwondrous life.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What\u2019s Next?<\/h2>\n

    For now, there\u2019s no release date. But the fans are ready for new music.<\/p>\n
