Nearly four years later, the sister of late actor Michael K. Williams<\/strong><\/a> is speaking out about her brother\u2019s fatal overdose.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe didn\u2019t want to die, be poisoned or ingest that poison,\u201d Michelle Chambers<\/strong> said in a preview clip of A&E\u2019s Fame and Fentanyl <\/i>documentary, per E! News<\/a>. <\/i>\u201cAnd darn sure [he] didn\u2019t do it willingly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Us Weekly <\/i>confirmed in September 2021<\/a> that Williams, known for his role as Omar Little on The Wire<\/i>, died at the age of 54.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Emmy-nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams,\u201d a rep for the late Boardwalk Empire<\/i> star said in a statement at the time. \u201cThey ask for your privacy while grieving this unsurmountable loss.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHBO has released plenty of hit series over the years, but few can compete with The Wire when it comes to critical acclaim and fan enthusiasm. The Baltimore-set crime drama, which aired from 2002 to 2008, has repeatedly been named one of the best TV shows of all time, and former President Barack Obama has [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Williams\u2019 death was later ruled as an accidental overdose<\/a>. Medical examiners had found a mix of fluorofentanyl, heroine and cocaine in his system at the time of his death.<\/p>\n

Four men were later arrested in connection to Williams\u2019 death, with one receiving a 30-month prison sentence in July 2023 after pleading guilty to possessing and distributing narcotics.<\/p>\n

Williams\u2019 family, meanwhile, used their appearances in Fame and Fentanyl <\/i>to further memorialize the star.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just miss his kindness,\u201d Chambers said of her brother. \u201cHe was such a gentle, kind soul\u2026 He was a heart that this world didn\u2019t deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Williams, an Emmy nominee, was also known for his work in films like 12 Years a Slave <\/i>and When They See Us. <\/i>He last appeared in Lovecraft Country <\/i>ahead of his death.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that I have trauma with my past experiences of life \u2014 things that have happened to me, things that I have done, bad choices. I live that and I\u2019m working through it,\u201d Williams told Deadline in July 2021 of preparing for the HBO Max series Lovecraft Country<\/i>. \u201cMontrose as well as the other members of his family, they are the epitome of the Black experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cAs Black Americans, we live such levels of trauma and oppression from the outside world and from each other. For Montrose\u2019s experiences, his story lines to be recognized, it makes me as a Black man feel seen.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

Williams further noted that he hoped for \u201chealing\u201d to come from his acting role.<\/p>\n
