The long and winding road of The Beatles<\/a> leads to a trifecta of new anniversary artifacts.<\/p>\n The band\u2019s \u201cAnthology\u201d collection<\/a> \u2013 documentary, music and book \u2013 turns 30 this year and will be celebrated with refreshed editions that feature new and upgraded material.<\/p>\n When The Beatles released its eight-part \u201cAnthology\u201d documentary in 1995, which aired three nights on ABC, it was one of the few times the artists themselves, rather than talking heads and outside voices, sat for candid interviews.<\/p>\n It was also the start of Paul McCartney<\/a>, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr driving Beatles lore into new generations, which has continued with troves of reissues, lyric books<\/a>, a long-running (recently closed) <\/a>Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas, Peter Jackson\u2019s well-received \u201cThe Beatles: Get Back\u201d documentary<\/a>, and, coming in April 2028, four feature films<\/a> spotlighting the legends.<\/p>\n This fall, fans can dive into another sea of gems.<\/p>\n Streaming on Disney+ starting Nov. 26, the original eight episodes of “Anthology” \u2013 restored and remastered \u2013 will be joined by a new Episode Nine. The addition includes unseen behind-the-scenes footage of McCartney, Starr and Harrison coming together in 1994 and 1995 to work on \u201cThe Anthology\u201d and reflecting on their life in The Beatles.<\/a><\/p>\n The restoration of the film was overseen by Apple Corps\u2019 production team, as well as Jackson\u2019s crew. Giles Martin<\/a>, son of Beatles mainstay producer George Martin and a Beatles disciple himself, created new audio mixes for most of the featured music.<\/p>\n Giles Martin also worked his remastering magic on songs originally curated by his father in the form of three double albums of rare material that focused on the early versions and evolution of Beatles songs.<\/p>\n The set, out Nov. 21, will include a new \u201cAnthology 4,\u201d <\/a>curated by Giles including 13 previously released demos and session recordings. Also in the collection are new mixes of \u201cFree As a Bird\u201d <\/a>and \u201cReal Love,\u201d the groundbreaking singles from the original \u201cAnthology\u201d that now include de-mixed Lennon vocals overseen by original producer Jeff Lynne of ELO<\/a>.<\/p>\n Like The Beatles\u2019 2022 \u201cfinal\u201d song, \u201cNow and Then,\u201d<\/a> the songs were crafted from rudimentary demos Lennon recorded in the 1970s with vocals and instrumentals from McCartney<\/a>, Starr and Harrison. \u00a0<\/p>\n The 191-track opus will be available in 12 LP and 8 CD box sets as well as on digital platforms.<\/p>\n\u2018The Beatles Anthology\u2019 documentary series gets a new episode<\/h2>\n
