Most people have already called the battle, but former NBA forward Michael Beasley<\/a> thinks otherwise.<\/p>\n Beasley, an East Coast native, did not hold back when the discussion turned<\/a> to Kendrick\u2019s \u201cNot Like Us,\u201d the record-breaking anthem that spent 53 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, longer than any other rap track in history.<\/p>\n On the 3s and Ones Podcast with Chris Haynes and rapper Symba, Beasley gave his verdict:<\/p>\n \u201cI think Hit Em Up probably the hardest diss track ever,\u201d Beasley said. Symba countered that it was, until \u201cNot Like Us\u201d came along. Beasley fired back, \u201cNot Like Us? That sh-t trash. Ain\u2019t nobody playing that song.\u201d<\/p>\n Symba wasn\u2019t letting that slide. \u201cNah, we\u2019re not doing that,\u201d he clapped back, pointing out that the record is still in heavy rotation.<\/p>\n Beasley doubled down, arguing, \u201cMost of the people saying it\u2019s a cool song are just mad at Drake.\u201d He admitted some bias, saying, \u201cYou from the West Side, I\u2019m from the East Side.\u201d Then he added, \u201cIt was a decent West Coast bop. You haven\u2019t heard the song since February.\u201d Symba immediately corrected him: \u201cWho haven\u2019t? I heard it this morning in the lobby!\u201d<\/p>\n The numbers also push back against Beasley\u2019s claim. \u201cNot Like Us\u201d not only topped charts, it broke streaming records by becoming the fastest rap single to hit 100 million streams and the most-played rap song in a single day.<\/p>\n While Beasley may not win arguments about hip-hop, he is winning on the hardwood. The BIG3 named him league MVP for the second straight season after leading Miami 305 to a playoff berth. He finished the year as the league\u2019s top scorer with 162 points, averaging 23.1 per game while shooting efficiently from deep and even nailing multiple four-pointers.<\/p>\n So when it comes to hoops, Michael Beasley can talk all he wants.
