In a recent interview with Art of Dialogue, actor Bokeem Woodbine shared a hilariously sweet memory of Tupac Shakur attempting\u2014and failing\u2014to charm his Gridlock\u2019d co-star<\/a> Lucy Liu while filming.<\/p>\n Although Shakur is widely remembered as one of Hip-Hop\u2019s most magnetic and bold personalities, this story proves even legends can strike out sometimes.<\/p>\n \u201cI just remember one day on set, \u2018Pac coming to knock on my trailer,\u201d Woodbine began. \u201cAnd he was like, \u2018Yo, man, what are you doing?\u2019 I was like, \u2018I\u2019m just chilling.\u2019 He was like, \u2018Yeah, man. I just came back from Lucy\u2019s room and I\u2019m trying to spit game.’\u201d<\/p>\n But the stunning actress<\/a>, who was apparently practicing with escrima sticks (a traditional Filipino martial arts weapon), was more focused on her training than on Tupac\u2019s charm.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was like, \u2018Okay, well, maybe if I feign some interest and act like I\u2019m interested in what she\u2019s trying to talk to me about, it\u2019ll get me closer to sealing the deal,\u2019\u201d Woodbine recalled.<\/p>\n Unfortunately for Pac, the plan didn\u2019t pan out. \u201cSo, I\u2019m just cracking up,\u201d Woodbine said. \u201cAnd I said, \u2018How\u2019d it work? Did it work?\u2019 He\u2019s like, \u2018No, it didn\u2019t work.\u2019 I said, \u2018Ah, don\u2019t worry about it, man. You know, you can\u2019t win them all.’\u201d<\/p>\n Pac confessed to Woodbine that Liu wasn\u2019t \u201cvibing\u201d with him \u201cin that kind of way.\u201d Woodbine added, \u201cOr maybe it just went over her head, like, she didn\u2019t know what he [was talking about]. But he was telling me like, \u2018Yeah, you know, I\u2019m trying to get to know her and the only thing she wants to talk about is waving these sticks around.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Despite the missed signals, Liu remembered Tupac fondly in a 2023 interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, saying, \u201cHe was nice and we had a great time together. It\u2019s so strange to think that he\u2019s gone now.\u201d<\/p>\n Gridlock\u2019d, released posthumously in January 1997, was one of Tupac\u2019s final film roles.
