Thirty years after it originally debuted, the monumental Beatles<\/strong> documentary series Anthology<\/em> is getting a new release on streaming via Disney+. In addition to the original eight episodes of the 1995 doc \u2014 with Peter Jackson<\/strong>‘s Wingnut Films working on the restoration \u2014 a new ninth installment has been produced, chronicling Paul McCartney<\/strong>, George Harrison<\/strong>, and Ringo Starr<\/strong> around the making of Anthology<\/em>.<\/p>\n The series was a massive hit upon initial release, earning three Emmy nominations in 1996 and winning the Grammy for Best Music Video, Long Form in 1997.<\/p>\n More from Gold Derby<\/strong><\/p>\n The Beatles Anthology<\/em> will be available to watch on Disney+ starting Nov. 26.<\/p>\n But the multimedia rerelease doesn’t stop there, as Anthology<\/em> encompassed audio and print version as well.<\/p>\n The Anthology Collection<\/em>, previously a three-album release, has also been expanded, adding a new fourth volume. Anthology 4<\/em>, which was curated by Giles Martin<\/strong> (the son of legendary producer George Martin<\/strong>), includes 13 tracks with previously unreleased demons and session recordings.<\/p>\n The entire collection, including Anthology 4<\/em>, will be available on Nov. 21. That release date puts it outside the eligibility window for 2026 Grammy consideration, but the new edition could garner nominations for the 2027 edition of the docuseries.<\/p>\n The Anthology 2025<\/em> celebration will also include a 25th anniversary edition of the book, originally released in 2000. The publication includes more than 1,300 photos, documents, and pieces of artwork, and will hit shelves on Oct. 14.<\/p>\n To mark the announcement, a restored 4K version of the “Free as a Bird” video has been released, featuring a remixed audio track. During Anthology<\/em>‘s original release, the track and the video each won a Grammy \u2014 for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Music Video, Short Form.<\/p>\n The news of the rerelease comes as Sam Mendes<\/strong> sets off on his massive creative endeavor, creating a four-part series of biopics \u2014 each one chronicles the band’s rise to worldwide super-stardom from the perspective a member of the Fab Four.
