Morgan Wallen<\/a> has support from one of his main collaborators and leading Nashville songwriters in his decision to not submit his current chart-topping album, I\u2019m the Problem<\/em>, for Grammy contention.<\/p>\n Ashley Gorley<\/a>, who has co-written such Wallen hits as \u201cSand in my Boots,\u201d \u201cLast Night\u201d and \u201cYou Proof,\u201d told Billboard<\/em> Wednesday (Aug. 20) night at the ACM Honors that he was more than fine with Wallen\u2019s decision to not enter the album<\/a>, any of the 37 songs on the voluminous set, or Wallen himself for consideration for the 68th Grammy Awards.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s fine with me. We\u2019re in the \u2018Never won a Grammy club\u2019 together,\u201d said Gorley, who was at the event to honor Jelly Roll. \u201cI was at [Wallen\u2019s] show on Saturday night and that\u2019s what matters most to us \u2014 the fans\u2019 reactions, the way those songs are coming off is so amazing. What a great set.\u201d<\/p>\n Gorley added that awards talk doesn\u2019t enter the writing room. \u201cWe\u2019re not thinking about Grammys when we\u2019re writing those songs. So, all good,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019ll take one if someone wants to give me one, but at the same time, we\u2019re all good with that. We\u2019re all sort of writing from a different place. [Wallen\u2019s] saying what he wants to say at this point as he should. He\u2019s had an amazing career, he\u2019s crushing it, so totally respect his opinion on that, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n Gorley, who co-wrote four songs on I\u2019m The Problem,<\/em> and the other songwriters can submit their own works should they choose in the Grammy song categories, according to sources.<\/p>\n Gorley has been nominated for eight Grammys, compared with Wallen\u2019s two nods. The only Grammy nominations that the country superstar has received in his nearly 10-year career were for his work on Post Malone\u2019s F1 Trillion<\/em> album. \u00a0Post Malone and Wallen\u2019s chart-topping duet, \u201cI Had Some Help,\u201d which Gorley co-write, received nods for best country duo\/group performance and best country song for the awards presented this past February.
