Sammy Hagar<\/a> has asked fans to consider the positive side of David Lee Roth<\/a>\u2019s recent comments at a live show concerning a story Hagar had told.<\/p>\n Hagar, Van Halen\u2019s former lead singer, claimed that the late Eddie Van Halen\u2019s ghost visited him in a dream and showed him guitar chords for his latest single released in April, \u201cEncore, Thank You, Goodnight,\u201d in an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cAbout two months ago, I had this dream and Eddie (Van Halen) came, it was just like he\u2019d been gone. It was not like he was passed, but he had just been out of my life, and we hadn\u2019t seen each other for a while. He\u2019s going, \u2018Man, let\u2019s write some music!\u2019 I said, \u2018Yeah, f— it, man. Here, let\u2019s go!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n During his show at the Hampton Casino in Hampton, NH, Roth, 70, spoke about Hagar\u2019s story.<\/p>\n \u201cOne of my esteemed colleagues, he\u2019s a contemporary, he\u2019s got a great voice, he\u2019s got a great catalogue,\u201d Roth told the crowd. \u201cYou all know Sammy Hagar, right? He\u2019s got a great voice. And Sammy, aloud, he described to the media about six weeks ago that the ghost of Eddie Van Halen visited him and graced him with a song that he memorized and then went home and recorded. It\u2019s on the internet.\u201d<\/p>\n After the compliments, it seemed as though Roth was taking a dig at Hagar\u2019s story.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know what the odds are, but last night the ghost of Eddie Van Halen visited me at the f—ing hotel room. I was watching the weather report, and he came in and he was laughing. His f—ing ghost was laughing. I said, \u2018What did you do now?\u2019 He said, \u2018Dave, Dave\u2026 Dave, you know that song I gave Hagar?\u2019 I said, \u2018What now?\u2019 He said, \u2018It\u2019s actually (Iron Butterfly\u2019s 1968 song) \u2018In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida\u2019 backwards. Don\u2019t f—ing tell him.\u2019”<\/p>\n After the video surfaced, fans thought that Roth was making fun of Hagar\u2019s ghostly story. In a comment left on Monday, Hagar believes the satirical story is actually Roth\u2019s way of giving a peace offering.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t believe social media is trying to make something out of this,\u201d Hagar wrote on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cThis is the first compliment and real olive branch moment Dave and I have had in 100 years. Listen closely, and you will see that this is not negative whatsoever. And I believe Dave had the dream as well. Dave\u2019s a good storyteller, but there\u2019s some truth in between the showmanship. All good with me. Keep it up, Dave. These songs we both wrote with Eddie need to be carried on forever.”<\/p>\n At least two former members of Van Halen seem to be getting along. Hagar and drummer Alex Van Halen haven\u2019t spoken to each other in 20 years.
