Country\u2019s favorite rapper BigXthaPlug <\/a>released his highly-anticipated I Hope You\u2019re Happy album on Friday (Aug. 21).<\/p>\n The country-trap effort delves into all the emotions surrounding a recent relationship BigX was in that resulted in the couple going their separate ways.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n The Dallas native tapped a handful of country stars to join him on the effort, including Jelly Roll<\/a>, Darius Rucker,<\/a> Luke Combs<\/a>, Bailey Zimmerman<\/a>, Thomas R<\/a>h<\/a>ett,<\/a> Tucker Wetmore,<\/a> Shaboozey<\/a> and Ella Langley. <\/a><\/p>\n BigX credited a Billboard interview<\/a> at the top of the year with pushing him to complete a country project. During his chat with Billboard<\/a>, he teased that he had the pillars of a project jumping into country ready, but the truth was that none of that was actually in motion at the time.<\/p>\n \u201cI go and do a Billboard interview and I straight up say, \u2018I got a country project on the way,’\u201d he told the New York Times\u2019 Popcast. <\/a>\u201cAnd I never had a country project on the way\u2026 I wasn\u2019t thinking properly, they had just made me cry in the middle of the interview\u2026 We come back and I\u2019m kinda trying to change the narrative, \u2018I got a country project on the way.\u2019 After I was like, \u2018Damn.\u2019<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cI said that and my team was like, \u2018You know you gotta do it now, right?\u2019 Days later, You got Jelly Roll saying [he wants in on the album] and we getting demo after demo from all these other artists.\u201d<\/p>\n I Hope You\u2019re Happy, which BigX originally titled Not Just Country, serves as his first project since 2024\u2019s Take Care, which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200<\/a>.<\/p>\n Stream I Hope You\u2019re Happy below.<\/p>\n Best of Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n Sign up for Billboard’s Newsletter<\/a>.
