9-1-1<\/a><\/em> is gearing up to head into its first full season without the 118\u2019s captain after Bobby Nash (Peter Krause<\/a>) tragically died on the job with three episodes still to go last spring. That\u2019s not a death that fans are going to get over any time soon \u2014 and according to Angela Bassett<\/a> (who plays Bobby\u2019s now widow, Athena), one of her siblings is among them.<\/p>\n \u201cMy sister\u2019s one of the fans, and she won\u2019t stop talking about it,\u201d she admitted to TODAY.com<\/a>. \u201cShe is mad\u201d and has said to Bassett, \u201cIt don\u2019t make sense\u2026 Is<\/em> he coming back?\u201d<\/p>\n Unfortunately, Bassett doesn\u2019t have anything to say that will make it easier for fans or her sister. \u201cI have to keep his memory alive in some way. I\u2019m making no promises. I\u2019m wondering just like you, just like the fans.\u201d<\/p>\n It would be quite the elaborate ruse should Bobby somehow be alive, but his death was pretty definitive, even though we didn\u2019t see his body and only saw the body bag being carried out before the episode in which he died \u2014 the 15th of the season \u2014 ended with a shot of his helmet.<\/p>\n \u201cInitially, it was just going to be the body bag,\u201d showrunner Tim Minear<\/a> told TV Insider<\/a> of the image he was going to leave viewers with. When we couldn\u2019t help but go \u201coof,\u201d he shared, \u201cThe reaction that you\u2019re having is the reaction that I was going for. People did not seem to like that, which is why I knew it was probably right. But when we were editing the episode, we found that shot [of the helmet], and I\u2019m just like, \u2018Put it at the end.’\u201d<\/p>\n The three episodes after showed how Athena and the rest of the 118 grieved Bobby\u2019s death. What they did not do was name a new captain of the 118. That, as well as seeing where Athena will be living \u2014 she put the house she and Bobby were building together when he died on the market at the end of the finale \u2014 are among the chief orders of business for 9-1-1<\/em> when Season 9 begins. And while we did see Peter Krause after Bobby\u2019s death, via flashbacks and hallucinations, we don\u2019t expect that to continue this fall.<\/p>\n What are you hoping to see in Season 9?
