This week, No. 1 goes to Show Me the Body for their remake of \u201cOne Train.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n It\u2019s not too often that we have a recurring theme for Heavy Song of the Week, but a handful of alternate versions and remakes crossed our desk, and they\u2019re all worth hearing.<\/p>\n The best of the bunch was Show Me the Body<\/a>\u2019s revamped take on \u201cOne Train,\u201d an early song that remained a concert staple and fan favorite despite being absent from streaming platforms for years.<\/p>\n At last, the song can be streamed and this version is closer to what you\u2019ll hear if you attend one of the band\u2019s insane live performances. It\u2019s heavier and more sonically rounded, giving added weight to Julian Cashwan Pratt\u2019s vocals and banjo, as well as the angular pounding of the drums and bass. Definitive of what Show Me the Body sounds like in 2025 via one of their tightest and most enduring post-hardcore arrangements.<\/p>\n Coheed and Cambria \u2013 \u201cGoodbye, Sunshine (Endless Summer) feat. Nick Hexum\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Here we have a reggae\/dub reworking of \u201cGoodbye, Sunshine\u201d from Coheed and Cambria<\/a>\u2019s latest album. Not necessarily \u201cheavy,\u201d but given that the original is a straight-head hard rocker, mighty impressive in how the band and their astute collaborators un-heavied<\/em> it (thus,\u00a0an honorable mention on merit). Dub producer The Scientist and 311\u2019s Nick Hexum lend their guiding hands, and the end result is a non-cheesy and authentic reggae vamp, one that\u2019ll surely be a crowdpleaser when Coheed inevitably bust it out on their upcoming cruise fest.<\/p>\n Kittie \u2013 \u201cSpit XXV\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Nu-metallers Kittie<\/a> are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album with an EP of re-recordings, revisiting four of the LP\u2019s highlight tracks with original producer Garth Richardson. As heard on the first single \u2014 a remake of the title track\u00a0\u2014 the band has given its oldest material new life via a fresh coat of sonic paint, showcasing just how brutal the Canadian quartet still sounds over two decades later.<\/p>\n Moonspell \u2013 \u201cVampiria (feat. Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa)\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
