What\u2019s Happening!! <\/i>star Dr. Danielle Spencer<\/strong> was honored at a private funeral following her death from cancer<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYesterday in Richmond, I had the honor of remembering Dr. Danielle Spencer \u2014 known to the world as the hilarious \u2018Dee\u2019 from What\u2019s Happening<\/i> \u2014 but to me, she was my sweet girlfriend and schoolmate when we were just 12 and 13,\u201d Holly Robinson Peete<\/strong> wrote via Instagram<\/span><\/a> on Friday, August 22. \u201cI will never forget her kindness, her grace and her strength through life\u2019s many challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the 21 Jump Street<\/i><\/span><\/a> actress, the funeral was held at Bon Air Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia, on Thursday, August 21.<\/p>\n

Guests included Spencer\u2019s What\u2019s Happening!!<\/i> costar Haywood Nelson and close friends, including Kim Fields<\/strong> and Ralph Carter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom filmmakers to artists, Hollywood lost many stars in 2025. News broke on January 4 that Aubrey Plaza\u2019s estranged husband, Jeff Baena, died one day earlier at the age of 47. Per medical examiner records viewed by Us Weekly, Baena died by suicide. \u201cThis is an unimaginable tragedy,\u201d Plaza\u2019s rep said in a statement to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201c\ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffdBeing with her family and loved ones \u2026 and sharing in the love of those who were with her in her final moments is something I will cherish forever,\u201d Peete, 60, wrote with photo memories from the celebration of life. \u201cRest in heavenly peace, Danielle. You will always be remembered with so much love \u2764\ufe0f\ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffd\ud83d\udd4a\ufe0f.\u201d<\/p>\n

On August 12, Nelson, 65, confirmed that Spencer had died at age 60 following a years-long battle with cancer. (She was first diagnosed with breast cancer<\/span><\/a> in 2014.)<\/p>\n

The actress was known for her role as Dee Thomas in the beloved ABC sitcom, which aired from 1976 to 1979. She reprised her role for What\u2019s Happening Now!!<\/i>, which aired from 1985 to 1988.<\/p>\n
