Deftones<\/a> diehards have been on the hunt for the band\u2019s legendary lost album, Eros<\/em>, for more than 15 years. The record tracked in 2008 was intended to be the follow-up to their fifth LP, 2006\u2019s Saturday Night Wrist<\/em>, but then shelved indefinitely.<\/p>\n In a new interview with the Guardian<\/a><\/em>, singer Chino Moreno gives fans a long-awaited update on the fate of the album that was scrapped after late bassist Chi Cheng was left in a coma following a 2008 car crash; Cheng died of complications from the accident in 2013 at age 42. While bootlegs of some of the songs have floated around online for years, Moreno said despite being asked about the LP all the time the truth is it\u2019s likely to stay on the vault.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt will most likely never see the light of day,\u201d said Moreno. \u201cThat would involve going back to that period and resurrecting unfinished things, and somehow bringing them to completion. \u2018Dallas\u2019 is the only song that was anywhere near finished.\u201d<\/p>\n Moreno said the band\u2019s just-released tenth studio album, Private Music<\/em>, started with ideas they\u2019d been working on separately during the COVID-19 pandemic. But when they actually got together to work on it, \u201cnone of us wanted to look back at those ideas from the pandemic \u2013 we wanted to capture the moment we\u2019re in today. So going back to try to capture what was happening back during Eros<\/em>, and finishing those ideas, doesn\u2019t really make sense.\u201d<\/p>\n Private Music<\/em> \u2014\u00a0which dropped just six weeks after the band first announced it \u2014\u00a0was preceded by the singles \u201cMy Mind Is a Mountain\u201d and \u201cMilk of the Madonna,\u201d and features the songs \u201cLocked Club,\u201d \u201cEcdysis,\u201d \u201cInfinite Source,\u201d \u201cSouvenir\u201d \u201cCxz,\u201d \u201cI Think About You All the Time,\u201d \u201cCut Hands,\u201d \u201c~Metal Dream\u201d and \u201cDeparting the Body.\u201d<\/p>\n The band is in the midst of a headlining tour in support of the album, which will stop at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C. on Friday night (Aug. 22).<\/p>\n Best of Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n Sign up for Billboard’s Newsletter<\/a>.
