Michelle Obama<\/a> and Dwyane Wade<\/a> had an honest conversation about marriage on the latest episode of the former first lady\u2019s podcast. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Wade said that he and his wife, actor Gabrielle Union<\/a>, are a decade into their marriage, which made him think of a poignant comment Obama made back in 2022 that stuck with him. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI heard you say that you had 10 years where you didn\u2019t even like Barack, so I\u2019m like, man \u2015 where is that coming from?\u201d Wade asked. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Obama said simply, \u201cI just tell the truth.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cYou have these periods, right? And if you\u2019re married for 30 years, like, you just look at the odds. If you\u2019re going to be married 30 years and somebody told you a third of those times wouldn\u2019t be great, you\u2019d still take the odds,\u201d she said, adding that \u201cthose are great odds!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The \u201cBecoming\u201d author added that \u201cmarriage is beautiful\u201d but also \u201cdifficult.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t just walk away in the difficult times because you miss all the beauty because you think it\u2019s got to be perfect,\u201d she said, adding that it\u2019s \u201cnever perfect.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Obama made headlines in 2022 when she said, \u201cthere were 10 years where I couldn\u2019t stand my husband.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAnd for 10 years while we\u2019re trying to build our careers and, you know, worrying about school and who\u2019s doing what and what, I was like, \u2018Ugh, this isn\u2019t even. And guess what? Marriage isn\u2019t 50\/50 \u2014 ever, ever.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
