South Florida icon, Gloria Estefan, was honored Friday on \u201cGood Morning America\u201d for a musical milestone. She just released a new album and doesn\u2019t plan on slowing down anytime soon.<\/p>\n

Grammy-award winning superstar Gloria Estefan appeared on \u201cGood Morning America,\u201d marking half a century in the music biz.<\/p>\n
George Stephanopoulos: \u201cYou are celebrating 50 years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gloria Estefan: \u201cI know! It\u2019s incredible!\u201d<\/p>\n
She talked about her newest album, \u201cRa\u00edces,\u201d and reflected on her start in music, giving credit to her grandmother, who encouraged her to sing.<\/p>\n
Gloria Estefan: \u201cThe minute her and I started to sing, she told me, \u2018You know, you have a gift, and unless you share it, you\u2019re not going to be happy.’\u201d<\/p>\n
The Recording Industry Association of America surprised Gloria, presenting two commemorative plaques for her career achievements.<\/p>\n
The album\u2019s release was also deeply personal, timed with a special anniversary.<\/p>\n
Gloria Estefan: \u201cEmilio comes with this song, \u2018Raices,\u2019 and he goes \u2018Babe, I wrote this for, you know, the people that I am working with now, but nobody can sing this song but you,\u2019 and I listened, and I fell in love with it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Estefan performed two songs live on GMA, including her new single \u201cLa Vecina\u201d and her iconic hit \u201cConga.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gloria Estefan: \u201cCome on, shake your body, do that conga, I know you can\u2019t control yourself any longer.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cRa\u00edces\u201d pays homage to her Cuban roots, blending classic styles with her modern sound.<\/p>\n
Gloria\u2019s latest album dropped May 28, marking her 50 years in the music business.<\/p>\n
