Sullivan\u2019s Crossing<\/em> season 4 is all about \u201ctransformation\u201d after that shocking secret husband twist in the season 3 finale, creator Roma Roth<\/strong> has revealed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m absolutely thrilled that Sullivan\u2019s Crossing<\/em> is returning for a fourth season,\u201d Roth, 56, said in a statement to Deadline<\/em><\/a> on Thursday, August 21. \u201cSeeing it resonate with a global audience and watching the ratings climb have been a dream come true. Season 4 will explore themes of change and transformation, so you can expect a whole new set of exciting and emotional challenges for Maggie and Cal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Season 3, which aired from May to July on The CW before streaming on Netflix in August, saw Maggie (Morgan Kohan<\/strong>) and Cal (Chad Michael Murray<\/strong>) navigate disagreements in their relationship, including Maggie\u2019s hesitation to move in with Cal and Cal\u2019s fear that Maggie may resent choosing to stay with him at the Crossing in Nova Scotia over her career as a neurosurgeon in Boston.<\/p>\n

However, their biggest challenge came when Maggie\u2019s \u201cex\u201d Liam (Marcus Rosner<\/strong>), whom she claimed was only a brief summer fling before she finished medical school, showed up at the Crossing and referred to himself as Maggie\u2019s husband<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t know they were married,\u201d Kohan, 31, told Swooon<\/em> in July. \u201cThere started to be talk when we filmed the scene with Lola and having summer flings. I knew that he was going to be coming into it, but I didn\u2019t really know when or in what capacity. That cliffhanger was so much fun for me to read as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that Maggie\u2019s hesitation to get serious with Cal made sense after learning about her past with Liam.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like it came up so last minute that I didn\u2019t really have time to think about it, but I think it definitely would. It makes a lot more sense, for sure, for her to be more hesitant,\u201d Kohan continued. \u201cAt the same time, I still don\u2019t know the history, so who knows when we get to find out a bit more of that information, what he really means that he\u2019s her husband and all that kind of stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n
