The shade of it all! Kim Cattrall<\/strong><\/a> endorsed one Sex and the City<\/a> fan\u2019s suggestion that she \u201ccarried\u201d the classic HBO show.<\/p>\n

The latest round in the seemingly never-ending rift between Cattrall, 69, and her Sex and the City costars occurred on the actress\u2019 birthday on Wednesday, August 22, when a fan took aim at the show on her behalf. (Cattrall played publicist Samantha Jones on Sex and the City but chose not to return on a full-time basis for the sequel show And Just Like That.)<\/p>\n

According to Page Six<\/a>, Cattrall \u201cliked\u201d a comment that read: \u201cAnd Just Like That\u2026we all know [it] was Sam (Kim) who carried the entire franchise. You, embodied everything that is the essence of a strong, powerful, and vulnerable woman. \ud83c\udf78we love and respect you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The shady social media interaction came one week after And Just Like That wrapped up its third and final season on HBO Max. While Cattrall had a cameo appearance in season 2, she did not participate in the final AJLT episodes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cattrall has made no secret of the fact that she did not get along with Sex and the City costar Sarah Jessica Parker<\/strong>. During a 2017 appearance on Piers Morgan\u2019s Life Stories, she confirmed that she no longer kept in touch with any of her SATC castmates.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t see them,\u201d she said. \u201cThe common ground we had was the series and the series is over.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cattrall clarified that she only ever viewed Parker as a colleague, not a friend. She also alluded to an overall \u201ctoxic relationship\u201d with her Sex and the City coworkers, adding: \u201cI just wish that Sarah had been nicer.\u201d<\/p>\n

During a 2018 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Parker responded that she was \u201cheartbroken\u201d by Cattrall\u2019s description of their relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cI found it very upsetting,\u201d she told host Andy Cohen<\/strong>. \u201cThat\u2019s not the way I recall our experience. It\u2019s sad but I always think that what ties us together is this singular experience. It was a professional experience but it became personal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the bad blood, Cattrall did eventually film one short scene for And Just Like That season 2 where Samantha and Carrie Bradshaw spoke on the phone. She opened up on The View in June 2023 about why she finally agreed to play Samantha Jones again after previously ruling it out.<\/p>\n

\u2018Sex and the City\u2019 Drama Through the Years: A Timeline<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very interesting to get a call from the head of HBO saying, \u2018What can we do?\u2019 and I went, \u2018Hmm, let me get creative,’\u201d Cattrall teased. \u201cAnd one of those things was to get [costume designer] Pat Field<\/strong> back because I just thought that if I\u2019m going to come back, I gotta come back with that Samantha style. I gotta push it. And we did!\u201d<\/p>\n

When a fan subsequently asked whether she was returning once again for what turned out to be the final season of And Just Like That, Cattrall replied via X in July 2024: \u201cAw that\u2019s so kind but I\u2019m not.\u201d<\/p>\n
