We may know when\u00a0Star Trek: Strange New Worlds<\/a><\/em> is going to end \u2014 it\u2019s been renewed through a fifth and final season \u2014 but that doesn\u2019t mean that will be it for at least some of its characters. After all, we know who\u2019s still around for the time of\u00a0The Original Series<\/em>, which takes place after\u00a0Strange New Worlds<\/em>. By then, James Kirk (Paul Wesley<\/a>), now a first officer on the\u00a0Farragut<\/em>, will have taken over as captain of the\u00a0Enterprise<\/em> from Christopher Pike (Anson Mount<\/a>).<\/p>\n

But there is a chunk of time between those two series that has not been shown, leading to fans eager for a Year One<\/em> series, about that early time of Kirk in the captain\u2019s chair on the\u00a0Enterprise<\/em>. We\u2019ve gotten a taste of that in\u00a0Strange New Worlds<\/em> Season 3, with Kirk taking over as temporary captain of the Farragut<\/em> and Spock (Ethan Peck<\/a>), Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding<\/a>), Chapel (Jess Bush<\/a>), and Scotty (Martin Quinn<\/a>) from the\u00a0Enterprise<\/em> joining him. Peck is a fan of that\u00a0Year One<\/em> title, and he\u2019d be all for appearing in it. (So far, it\u2019s just people talking about the possibility, with no serious discussions.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it would be really wonderful,\u201d he tells TV Insider. \u201cI will stay playing this character for as long as I\u2019m invited, for the most part, because I just think it\u2019s such an amazing thing to be a part of. The messaging is so incredible, and this character has so much integrity. He\u2019s such a noble person, so I love portraying him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wesley also told us<\/a> he\u2019s all for a\u00a0Year One<\/em> show.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s not up to me, but I have expressed my desire, probably all too often, to the showrunners and whomever else asks,\u201d he shared. \u201cI would love nothing more than to do a Kirk series along with our beloved characters in TOS<\/em>\u00a0and introduce the characters that we have yet to introduce in\u00a0TOS<\/em>, Chekov and Sulu, and, I mean, you name it. And I think it would be fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cSpeaking as a little kid who wants to play in a series, I think there\u2019s so much room to explore, and I think you can go into the TOS<\/em>\u00a0sort of time. You can explore time between episodes, you can explore time before the first episode. There\u2019s just so much story to be mined here, and I would love nothing more than to play in that series.\u201d<\/p>\n
