Diego Borella, an assistant director for the Netflix series \u201cEmily In Paris,\u201d has died at the age of 47.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Borella collapsed on set in Venice, Italy, at <\/span>the Hotel Danieli and was pronounced dead around 7 p.m. on Thursday. The news was confirmed by multiple international outlets and later in a statement from Paramount Television Studios, obtained by Dateline.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe are deeply saddened to confirm the sudden passing of a member of the \u2018Emily in Paris\u2019 production family,\u201d the statement read. \u201cOur hearts go out to the individual\u2019s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to the Italian newspaper <\/span>La Repubblica<\/span><\/a>, Borella was a \u201cwell-regarded professional\u201d who honed his craft in cities such as Rome, New York and London. The outlet also reported that medical staff were present on the scene, but their efforts to revive Borella were unsuccessful. The Italian publication noted that Borella may have died from a sudden heart attack. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Production was temporarily halted following Borella\u2019s death, but resumed on Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cOur ambulance arrived at 18.42 (on Thursday evening). Medics made attempts to resuscitate him. But in the end all efforts proved fruitless. At around 19.30, he was pronounced deceased,\u201d the outlet noted. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The news comes just days after Netflix released<\/a> \u201cfirst look images\u201d from the upcoming season. Filming for the upcoming season kicked off in May and was ushered in by the show\u2019s official Instagram account featuring a selfie of the series\u2019 star Lily Collins.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
