For a while there, it seemed like Harry and Meghan would not get a new Netflix deal<\/a>\u00a0when their old one expired in September. But then they did sign a new Netflix deal, and their new one is said to work pretty much like the one President Barack Obama<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Michelle Obama<\/a> signed. It\u2019s less a long-term deal and more a first-look type deal, which aligns more with the new Netflix strategy. But what exactly does that mean for them?<\/p>\n According to royal expert Richard Eden, \u201cIt\u2019s definitely a slap in the face. What Harry would want would be another deal he could boast to Oprah Winfrey about\u2014how much it\u2019s worth.\u201d Speaking on the Mail\u2019s\u00a0Palace Confidential<\/a>, Eden said: \u201cHarry himself, in his interview with Oprah Winfrey, talked about how he needed money and he needed it quickly because of security and money being cut off from his father.\u201d<\/p>\n More from StyleCaster<\/strong><\/p>\n Related:\u00a0<\/strong>Here\u2019s what each royal inherited from Queen Elizabeth<\/a><\/p>\n Eden even compared this new deal with the couple\u2019s original deals with Spotify and Netflix, which, according to him, were \u201cworth a fortune.\u201d Suffice it to say that, to him, the new deal is pretty much peanuts in comparison and requires them to work so much harder to get paid.<\/p>\n But the new Netflix deal seems to be less about Harry and Meghan and more about the changing way of doing business for the streamer, which has transformed a lot of its longer-term deals into this type of deal lately and still continues doing business with a lot of different individuals. Proof positive that they are still interested in continuing to do business with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is the announcement of the new deal.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand,\u201d Markle said in a statement about the\u00a0new Netflix deal<\/a>. \u201cMy husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision.\u201d<\/p>\n That\u2019s right, not only did Netflix sign a new deal with Harry and Meghan, they expanded their collaboration to include Meghan\u2019s As Ever brand. That means the brand \u201cwill continue expanding into new product categories with new items continuing to be released throughout the remainder of the year.\u201d According to\u00a0the Sun<\/a>, the deal also means Netflix will continue to back Archewell Productions, with funding reportedly covering staffing and office costs. Pretty good deal for the Sussexes, all around.<\/p>\n Harry and Meghan\u2019s collaboration with Netflix has produced\u00a0With Love, Meghan<\/em>, Polo<\/em>, and the 2022 docuseries\u00a0Harry & Meghan. <\/em>Season 2 of With Love, Meghan<\/a><\/em>, will premiere later this month, with a holiday special,\u00a0With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration<\/em>, set to premiere in December.
