Ron Howard may be an Oscar-winning director, but that didn\u2019t stop him from feeling nervous about tackling his latest film, \u201cEden.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThis movie was a big creative risk,\u201d he told Page Six at a Cinema Society screening in New York City Wednesday night, adding, \u201cIt was outside my comfort zone.\u201d<\/p>\n Howard, 71, went on to explain that most of his movies are \u201ccelebratory,\u201d while this project is a \u201ccautionary tale.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a true crime thriller and I\u2019m so proud of it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Ron Howard spoke to Page Six at a screening of his latest film, \u201cEden.\u201d Andrew H. Walker\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n The director called the movie \u201ca big creative risk.\u201d Eric Kowalsky \/ MEGA<\/p>\n The movie \u2014 which stars Jude Law, Sydney Sweeney and Ana de Armas \u2014 tells the shocking true story of a group of European expats who settle on Floreana, a part of the Gal\u00e1pagos Islands in Ecuador.<\/p>\n Before long, they discover that the true threat to their survival isn\u2019t the brutal climate and spartan conditions, but one another.<\/p>\n The \u201cDa Vinci Code\u201d director shared that he first learned about the improbable story \u2014 which involves themes of betrayal, murder, and sex \u2014 when he went on a family vacation to the Gal\u00e1pagos Islands about 15 years ago.<\/p>\n \u201cWe went to the Museum of the Gal\u00e1pagos, and one entire room was dedicated to this true crime thriller, and the story was so fascinating,\u201d Howard recalled. \u201cI started reading everything that I could; it\u2019s all we talked about at dinner. I was so intrigued by it. I literally started thumbing out a movie outline on my BlackBerry.\u201d<\/p>\n The film, which stars Sydney Sweeney, is based on true events that took place on a remote island.
