Bill Maher believes his viewers need to focus their attention on stopping President Donald Trump’s \u201cslow-moving coup.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n During the latest episode of HBO\u2019s Real Time with Bill Maher, the 69-year-old host gave a word of warning as to what\u2019s going on in Washington, D.C<\/a>.<\/p>\n After reviewing Trump\u2019s first six months in office<\/a>, Maher believes the U.S. president<\/a> is \u201cnever going to concede power\u201d and is making the right moves to make sure of that. He went on to give a step-by-step rationale as to how Trump\u2019s \u201ccoup\u201d is coming to fruition.<\/p>\n He started, \u201cIf there was a slow-moving coup, let me just describe some of the steps and you tell me if I\u2019m being paranoid.<\/p>\n \u201cFirst, create a masked police force. Get people used to looking at that. Normalize snatching people off the street. Get them used to that. Normalize seeing the car, the national guard, and the military on the street.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThen start talking about crime in the capital, which has always been a fairly crime-ridden city,\u201d Maher added. \u201cThis is our nation\u2019s capital, where elections are decided.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then because the crime is so bad, have other states start sending their troops,\u201d the host continued, before showing proof of his hypothesis. \u201cNot just the national guard there in DC, but now at least six other states are sending their troops, which Trump can then federalize.”<\/p>\n \u201cSo you\u2019re having many state troops on the ground there, and now they\u2019re under federal control. So you have in the capital a sort of permanent police presence.<\/p>\n Maher went on to speak \u201chypothetically\u201d about when \u201can election dispute might come up\u201d again. He is creating an army in the nation\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n \u201cI just think the presence now of this army in Washington is going to have its toll taken when the next election comes around,\u201d the host concluded.<\/p>\n Maher\u2019s statement comes weeks after the president deployed federal agents and the National Guard<\/a> across Washington, D.C. due to the Department of Government Efficiency\u2019s former employee Edward Coristine being left bloodied from a local carjacking.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re not playing games,\u201d Trump said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to make it safe.
