THREE RIVERS, Mich. (WOOD) \u2014 A summer camp in Three Rivers is turning into the backdrop of a Hollywood horror film.<\/p>\n

At Camp Tavor, which is normally quiet this time of year, there\u2019s the sound of a movie set. And the person behind it all, Director Marc J. Morgan, is no stranger here. He was a camper 26 years ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince I was 14 years old I basically said I have to make a movie here,\u201d Morgan explained.<\/p>\n

Now he\u2019s back with a full crew to shoot his slasher film \u201cCrazy Bones,\u201d about eight college kids who head to a fictional camp for a weekend getaway, to discover a legend about a murderer at the camp is real.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is definitely probably the biggest project I\u2019ve ever worked on,\u201d Morgan said.<\/p>\n

    While Morgan drives the vision, the details fall to people like Daniel Phillips, a Michigan-based special effects artist who\u2019s worked on blockbuster sets around the world.<\/p>\n

    \u201cAlthough the big films like \u201c(The) Hobbit,\u201d they\u2019re very big and epic and everyone sees them, indie films are fun because I get a lot more creative control of the characters I do,\u201d Phillips said.<\/p>\n

    He hopes this project inspires more projects in Michigan.<\/p>\n

    \u201cHopefully we get our film incentives back here and I can work more in Michigan,\u201d Phillips said.<\/p>\n

    Legislation would bring back Michigan film tax credits <\/a><\/p>\n

    The production is also the work of producer Christopher Gaida, who helped build the storyline.<\/p>\n

    \u201cIt\u2019s been really fun. It\u2019s been really exhausting. We\u2019re all going on three hours of sleep,\u201d Gaida said.<\/p>\n

    Still, he says the long days are fueled by more than deadlines.<\/p>\n

    \u201cThey\u2019re doing it because of the passion, and they\u2019re doing it for the love of horror and the love of Michigan,\u201d Gaida said.<\/p>\n

    For Morgan, this project ties both together.<\/p>\n

    \u201cWe are bringing Hollywood and \u201cCrazy Bones\u201d to Southwest Michigan, and we\u2019re bringing Three Rivers to the rest of the world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

    Filming is set to continue until Sept. 1.<\/p>\n
